Making Disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, witness, study, service and fellowship

Lay Leader

Hello Eden UMC!

It’s February already, and the theme is often LOVE….. so let’s take advantage and allow this month to really be about love… love for each other, love for ourselves, and above all, love for our Wonderful Creator! What better gift can we give our family, friends, and congregation than to show them REAL LOVE?

“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”- 1 John 3:18

[Jesus said] “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.” - John 15:9

“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.” - Proverbs 10:12

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” -John 3:16

"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” -1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Much Love and Blessings, Liza Pope

Liza Pope June 2010

I can say with all honesty that becoming lay leader has been a blessing and an honor in every sense of the word, and I am thankful for the privilege to serve you and God in this capacity. With Dawn Quesenberry moving on in her own faith journey she has left a large void to fill, but with God’s help I will strive to serve our church to the best of my ability.  There are many things on the horizon as a number of new faces will hopefully be among us, and I am so very excited to see all that God has planned for our congregation and community.

In all that I've seen so far, I can tell you without a doubt that Our Heavenly Father has blessed this congregation!  The fact that there are so many capable people as part of our congregation is evidence enough to me that we are blessed.  Our church is run in such an expert fashion by a large and dedicated group of volunteers, serving a mission, and I would earnestly encourage anyone to take the opportunity to serve one of our many teams.  There is surely at least one where your gifts from God can be best allowed to grow, and it would be such a shame to waste those seeds He’s planted in you!  There are new ideas appearing all the time it seems, and an enthusiasm to act on them… I can see and feel God at work!

Thank you to all... for the encouragement and support I have received already.  And please, please feel free to speak with me at any time, about anything at all.  I am here to serve with you, and I very much look forward to doing so.

Much Love and Blessings,

Liza
