From Rev. Kate:
I grew up in Rochester New York, graduating from School of the Arts. I had a conversion experience while in High School. I spent the first few years after my conversion trying to find a spiritual home. While working for A Christian Ministry in the National Parks in Shenandoah National Park I met a couple who were Nazarene ministers. They introduced me to a local Church of the Nazarene. My first service was a midweek service and the Pastor was teaching on sanctification. I knew I’d found a spiritual home. Eventually he recommended I look at returning to college, and I did to Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy Massachusetts.
I met my future husband David, while studying Youth Ministry. He was a United Methodist. He insisted I try the Methodist Church. I went to Boston University School of Theology following college, and took my first job at a United Methodist Church. I’d found my next spiritual home.
My first appointment was in Massachusetts, followed by several in Maine. I also served as the Director of the Wilson Center and the Protestant Chaplain at the University of Maine. I have been under appointment for 14 years.
I currently serve North Brewer Eddington United Methodist Church, Eddington ME, and as the President of the Bangor Area Street Pastors, which we launched in 2014.
David and I have two children. They look forward to this move which will bring us closer to grandparents. I am an avid cyclist, I can’t wait to try the hills in Eden. As a family, we hike and ski together, and our oldest child is an avid baseball fan, while the younger one is obsessed with downhill skiing and being outside, no matter the weather. We enjoy winter, however, my children have never experienced lake effect snow, I can’t wait for them to finally understand what I mean when I describe winter.
Grace and Peace,
Kate Nicol
