Dear Sister and Brothers in Christ,
In just over a month I will be with you. I will finally have the chance to put faces to names. Just the other week I was able to skype in for a meeting. I was grateful for the opportunity to participate (thanks Louise for being tech support). I was able to get a glimpse of the work being done for the Kingdom of God through the Eden United Methodist Church. We talked about the Sunday School program, small groups, the respite care ministry, and worship. As we talked about worship, I offered to run an 830am worship service for the summer with weekly communion. I cannot play guitar, and I have joked that although I studied music for a long time I am not able to lead worship with a clarinet, but I have a great appreciation for all forms of music, and how to use music to help us worship God. As we get to know one another and worship God together, my prayer is that the Spirit of Pentecost would continue to work in each of us as we seek to use our gifts for the building of God’s Kingdom.
I have had the unique opportunity to serve God in many settings. I began my ministry working with youth. I remember going to Kingdom bound with both youth and college groups. I have always been drawn to ministries that serve people who have not been introduced to the Gospel message. I think the most unique ministry I have participated in so far is the Street Pastor Ministry I helped launch in Bangor, Maine. Just last week I shared about this ministry in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Street Pastor began in London, in 2003 and has spread to several countries, maybe we can bring it to New York State.
I know that we have many different things to offer one another, and I can’t wait to get started. See you soon.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Kate
